Meet Jackson McKain

Jackson grew up near the small town of Culver, KS. He honed his passion for the outdoors through the Boy Scouts of America, where he camped on a monthly basis and canoed thrice through the Canadian wilderness. He attained Eagle Scout status on December 5, 2013. Jackson served on Dane G. Hansen Boy Scout Reservation’s summer camp staff from 2014-2019 as ecology director, and in 2017-2019 also served as program director.

Jackson always knew he would attend Kansas State University. He spent his time at K-State studying to become a high school biology and chemistry teacher. He graduated in December of 2019, and veered into the horticulture world soon after. He took on a lead role with Kaw Valley Greenhouses, managing their east Manhattan garden center from 2020-2022. He started at Taussig Landscape on the landscape install crew in June 2022, and is pumped to open the Garden Center in 2023.

If it’s nice out, Jackson loves to hike and explore nature, especially with his dog Rhys. Jackson gardens and hopes to produce enough next season to share with others. While not athletic, he’s very competitive and will never lose a Scrabble challenge.
